The Strogg Trooper
(A Generations Parody of "The Trooper" by Iron Maiden)

You frag me once, but I'll frag you too
You fire your railgun but I'll shotgun you
So as we fight over the next health pack
You better stand, there's no turning back.

The "fight" word sounds, the game begins
But on this level which Gen class will win?
The crack of railgun slugs and rocket blasts
As we dodge and strafe unto the last

The megahealth is gone, I break to run
The mighty roar of the Strogg's railgun
And as I race down towards the armor hall
The screams of pain as my Doomguy falls

I hurdle bodies that lay on the ground
And the railgun fires another round
I get so near, yet so far away
I am doomed to lose this match today!

We get so close, near enough to fight
When the 'Trooper gets me in his sights
He pulls the trigger and I feel the blow
A splash of gibs stains the ground below

And as the fraglimit is hit at last
My score is down, and my end was fast
I lost the Generations tournement
To someone else it seems that prize was meant


This song was actually inspired by a match that Angst and I had on Eternal Arenas.  The score was only 1 point off, but I just started making up lyrics in the chatroom and here's the result.   Slipgate - Grin

The next thing you know there's a war in Vietnam.
Kin folks say, "George, stay at home with Mom."
Let the common people get maimed and scarred.
We'll buy you a spot in the Texas Air Guard.
Cushy, that is. Country clubs. Nose candy.

Twenty years later George gets a little bored.
He trades in the booze, says that Jesus is his Lord.
He said, "Now the White House is the place I wanna be."
So he called his daddy's friends and they called the GOP.
Gun owners, that is. Falwell. Jesse Helms.

Come November 7, the election ran late.
Kin folks said "Jeb, give the boy your state!"
"Don't let those colored folks get into the polls."
So they put up barricades so they couldn't punch their holes.
Chads, that is. Duval County. Miami-Dade.

Before the votes were counted five Supremes stepped in.
Told all the voters "Hey, we want George to win."
"Stop counting votes!" was their solemn invocation.
And that's how George finally got his coronation.
Rigged, that is. Illegitimate. No moral authority.
Y'all go vote now. Ya hear?

I wrote this in July '03 out of boredom. And it was done quickly as well... even used a LOT of the original words. To understand it fully, you'd need reasonable knowledge of Dark Age of Camelot... an MMORPG I used to play till about 4 months ago. My character was named Hozer Eh.. and was an Albion Polearmsman. He used a lucern hammer and was the self proclaimed 'massive smasher'. Slipgate - Smile
