I just got Q3 and was playing Generations Arena, when some things happened.

On some big levels, like Q3DM4 and Q3DM19 there is ENOUMOUS amounts of cpu lag. Yet this doesn't happen under regular Q3 play. I have 128 ram set as com_hunkmegs, but it still lags. Should I increase it? (Got over 700 mb ram btw)

And also, when i launch a tournament style Generations play, when I choose my class, the game returns to the main menu and says "Cannot find a starting point" So GA doesn't work at all with the Tournament mode. Slipgate - Sad

I'm using .99D and if there's any patch to fix these problems then couldsomeone help me?

I can help you out, but I need to know your full hardware setup (just the major stuff - CPU/RAM/Vid Card and their brands).

The tourney mode bug will be fixed in the next patch

As for CPU lag, RAM helps, but only so far if you have a slow CPU. Most of the weapon models and skins in GenArena are higher quality than entire PLAYER models from stock q3. That's what causes the extra lag.

Actually, I was using a launcher before for Q3A and now I just used the command liens and now there's no lag...very odd. At least that works now. Slipgate - Smile

Alright, well it's good to know my copy of GA isn't messed up. When would the next patch come out?

And just in case it happens again here's my stats

1.8 GHZ  AMD Athlon XP 2200+
768 MB DDR RAM
ATI Radeon 9600 SE 256 MB

For a system that's pretty decked out this lag surprised me Slipgate - Grin

Gen .99e is going to almost certainly be a full release, and yes, I'm going to say August as well mainly due to QuakeCon.  I'm back to work on the code and actually making some progress so we'll see how much can be squeazed in between now and then.
