I'll bite on this as well...

Well, I don't know about the picture I posted, but my friends and I do that kind of stuff out of "love" so to speak.  For instance, in high school, we used to sabotage each others' backpacks.  If there were books in the back section  and a folder in the front section, we'd put the folder in the back and the books in the front.  If we had enough time, we'd also cross the support straps and turn the backpack inside out.  It just basically comes down to whether or not everyone in the group is ok with it.  If any one person in the group wasn't ok with something, we wouldn't do it.  I'm not sure if that's the case with the picture I posted above, but I somewhat suspect it is due to the overelaborate nature of the sabotage.  That and it's just empty boxes and cans.
